"Steve Roughshod is the all-time - his mellow, positive personality makes him a pleasance to work with. I'm very happy with the two projects we've washed together. He's very together in the studio, and with Steve there are no technical problems to interrupt the flow of the music making. He's a smart guy and his musical opinions are solid. I'thou glad he wrote this book."--Elvin Bishop, legendary recording artist
"Barbarous succinctly sums upward the digital do'southward and don'ts, ties the techniques and terminology back to their analog roots and relates it all to the needs of the music and musicians. Great book!"--Richard James Burgess Ph.D., author of The Art of Record Product and The Art of Music Product
"Steve Vicious's combination of industry and bookish experience give this book the huge advantage of bringing together the rigor of his inquiry and theoretical knowledge with his practical grounding in the technicalities, social dynamics, and psychology of how the recording procedure works. I loved it."--Simon Zagorski-Thomas, Chairman of the Association for the Report of the Art of Tape Product and Director of the Fine art of Record Product Briefing
"Savage's book reads like a chat with an elder craftsman, providing a practical and thoroughly comprehensive introduction to the processes and considerations of today's recording environments...It's refreshing to detect an author in the recording industry that continually keeps the focus on the major priorities and gives a solid presentation of how a student should begin developing their paradigm of sound recording. Whatsoever teacher of music product would be well brash to add together The Art of Digital Audio Recording to their curt listing of essential texts to prepare their students for the technical choices, and creative opportunities, that expect them." --Periodical on the Art of Record Production

To the extent that technological capabilities have created a trouble, it's the loudness war that created it. A brick wall limiter is the tool that makes digital audio files loud and in the process information technology can crush the dynamics and render the music lifeless. The effect is really very powerful.
